Neath Peace Society was founded in the mid 19th century by Joseph Tregellis Price (1784-1855).
Neath Mechanics' Institute was founded in 1843 with the aim of improving the education of young working-class men who worked during the day and normally had little access to education. Evening classes were held twice a week by volunteers and a library was established.
Scope and content/abstract: Miscellaneous notes on the history of Neath from 1838-1888 including notes on Neath Peace Society and Neath Mechanics' Institute, made c1950.
